Kingdom Reflections: The Quiet Work of God

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how the Kingdom of God doesn’t always look the way we expect it to.

When I was younger, I thought Kingdom work had to be big to matter. Big crowds. Big results. Big moments where you could clearly see God moving. But as the years have gone by, and as the Lord has allowed me to walk through many different seasons, I’ve come to see something different.

Most of His work is quiet.

It happens in the everyday places. Around kitchen tables. In small conversations. In meals shared. In prayers whispered when no one else is listening.

The Kingdom of God grows in ways the world doesn’t celebrate.

It’s in the woman who shows up faithfully, even when she’s tired. It’s in the meal made for a neighbor who is hurting. It’s in the note written, the hug given, the scripture shared at just the right moment. These things may seem small, but in God’s hands, they are never wasted.

I’ve seen this firsthand in ministry. There have been times when we’ve traveled miles to help build something with our hands, and yet the real work God was doing had nothing to do with the building. It was in the conversations. The laughter. The tears. The moments where hearts were softened and lives were touched.

That’s Kingdom work.

Jesus often spoke in parables about seeds. Tiny things that didn’t look like much at first. But given time, they grew into something strong and life-giving. I believe that’s how our lives of obedience work too.

We plant seeds every day.

Sometimes we see them grow. Sometimes we don’t. But that isn’t our responsibility. Our calling is to be faithful in the planting.

There have been seasons in my life where I wondered if what I was doing really mattered. When the work felt unseen. When the days felt long and the results felt small. But I’ve learned that God sees every act of obedience, no matter how quiet it may be.

Nothing done for Him is ever insignificant.

If you are in a season where your life feels ordinary, I want to gently remind you—this is often where the Kingdom grows best. Not in the spotlight, but in the steady, faithful moments of living for Him.

Keep serving. Keep loving. Keep showing up.

The Kingdom of God is being built, one small act at a time.

And dear friend, you are a part of that work.
