Becoming a Barnabas in Today's World
Barnabas isn't one of the most famous people in the Bible.
Yet he may be one of the most needed examples for our world today.
His name means "Son of Encouragement."
Imagine being remembered for that.
Barnabas believed in people.
He welcomed Saul when others were afraid.
He stood beside John Mark after failure.
He strengthened believers simply by coming alongside them.
Barnabas reminds us that encouragement is more than something we do.
It becomes who we are.
Every one of us knows someone carrying a burden that isn't visible.
The smiling cashier.
The neighbor across the street.
The elderly woman sitting quietly at church.
The young couple trying to raise children.
The missionary serving faithfully.
The caregiver who rarely gets a break.
What if we became people who noticed?
What if we prayed before every greeting card?
What if we asked God to lead us to someone who needed hope?
Encouragement doesn't require a platform.
It requires compassion.
Every encouraging word reflects the heart of Christ.
That is the legacy worth pursuing.
"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up."
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Prayer
Father, make me more like Barnabas. Give me eyes that notice, ears that listen, and words that strengthen others. May my life point people to Jesus through simple acts of encouragement. Amen.
The Encouragement Envelope exists to help ordinary believers become everyday encouragers. We'd love to walk that journey with you.
